How payout follows chance

A dice game pays (100 − house edge) ÷ win chance. With a 1% edge that is 99 ÷ chance, so 49.5% pays 2x and 1% pays 99x. Multiply the payout by the win chance and you always get 0.99: on average a bet returns 99% of the stake whatever chance you pick.

Betting low wins when the roll is under the chance. Betting high wins when the roll is over 100 minus the chance, the mirror image of the low target on a roll that runs from 0.00 to 100.00.

Low chances pay more and lose in long runs; high chances win small amounts often and lose rarely. A 10 loss streak is close to certain over a long session at low chances and very rare at high ones, but each loss at a high chance costs many wins, so the expected loss per unit wagered stays at 1% across the table.
