Positive progression · 49.5% chance
1-3-2-6 betting system for dice (Lua script)
The 1-3-2-6 betting system is a positive progression: the bet goes up after wins and back to the start after a loss. This dice script bets 49.5% for a 2.00x payout and stakes 1, 3, 2 and then 6 base bets on consecutive wins. Any loss, or a completed 4th win, returns the bet to 1 base bet.
A full run of 4 wins makes 12 base bets and happens 6.00% of the time at 49.5%. A run that ends in a loss finishes between 2 base bets down and 2 up, so a losing streak costs one base bet per loss.
The script
Lua 5.4 with DiceBot-style globals. The top level runs once to set chance and the first nextbet, then dobet() runs after every roll. Every global is described in the Lua reference.
-- 1-3-2-6 (positive progression, 4 steps)
-- Bet 1, 3, 2 and then 6 units on consecutive wins. Any loss goes back to 1 unit, and
-- so does completing the 4th win. At a 2.00x payout a full run of 4 wins makes
-- 12 units, and a run that ends in a loss finishes between 2 units down and 2 up.

How it works
chance = 49.5andbethigh = falsewin on a roll below 49.5, paying 2.00x.basebetisparams.basebetorbalance / 2000, which is 0.05% of the starting balance.units = { 1, 3, 2, 6 }holds the bet for each win in a row, in base bets.stepstarts at 1.- After a win,
dobet()adds 1 tostep. If that passes the end of the list, the run is complete andstepgoes back to 1. - After a loss,
stepgoes back to 1. - Then
nextbet = basebet * units[step].
Risk at a glance
Settings: 49.5% chance, 1% house edge, starting balance 0.001 (the template default, BTC in the simulator), base bet 0.0000005 (balance / 2000).
The calculator's model raises the bet after a loss, which this script never does. In a straight losing run every bet is one base bet, so the table shows how little a losing streak costs. The cost of 1-3-2-6 is the house edge on every bet, which the table does not show.
| Losses in a row | Chance of the streak | Result from a fresh start |
|---|---|---|
| 10 | 1 in 927 (0.108%) | Lost 0.000005 (0.5%), next bet 0.0000005 |
| 15 | 1 in 28,225 (0.0035%) | Lost 0.0000075 (0.8%), next bet 0.0000005 |
| 20 | 1 in 859,355 (0.00012%) | Lost 0.00001 (1.0%), next bet 0.0000005 |
Theoretical figures for a fresh start, not a simulation. The chance of N losses in a row is qN with q = 1 - chance / 100, the same formula the dice calculator uses. None of this changes the expected result: at a 1% house edge the average loss is 1% of the total wagered, whatever the progression.
Tuning it
Each setting below is read as params.name or default, so the script runs with the default until something passes a value in.
| Param | Default | What changing it does |
|---|---|---|
| params.basebet | balance / 2000 | Value of one unit. Every bet is 1, 3, 2 or 6 of these, and a loss on the first step costs one. |
The unit list is not a params value. To try another progression, edit units in the code. The script reads the length with #units, so a list of any length works.
FAQ
Is the 1-3-2-6 system profitable on dice?
No. It changes the size of each bet, not the odds. Every bet loses 1% of its size on average at a 1% house edge, so over many rolls the expected result is a loss of about 1% of the total wagered.
How can one 1-3-2-6 run end?
At 49.5%: a loss on the first bet (50.5%) ends 1 base bet down, a win and then a loss (25.0%) end 2 down, two wins and a loss (12.4%) end 2 up, three wins and a loss (6.13%) end even, and four wins (6.00%) end 12 up. On average a run loses 0.037 base bets, which is 1% of the 3.70 base bets it wagers.
Why does the bet drop from 3 units to 2?
After wins on the 1 and 3 unit bets the run is 4 units up. Betting 2 units next means a loss still leaves the run 2 units up, while a win takes it to 6 and sets up the 6 unit bet. That last bet risks only the run's winnings, so losing it ends the run even.
Can I run this script in DiceBot or another Lua dice bot?
The script uses the global names from Seuntjie's DiceBot (chance, bethigh, nextbet, previousbet, win, dobet()). The params table only exists in DiceSim, so replace each params.name or value with the value before you paste it into another bot. DiceSim itself never places bets on a casino.
